VIEWS FOR 20/20 by Dr. Mark Skowron and Dr. Michelle Skowron SENIOR EYE EXAMS: HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GO How often should seniors have an eye exam with a specialist? Preventative eye care screenings take place at well exams, but your general doctor cannot prescribe corrective lenses and general exams don't catch every age-related eye disease. Comprehensive, dilated eye exams are the only way to identify the onset of certain eye conditions. Even if you have good vision, people ages 40 to 64 should have a complete eye exam every two to four years, depending on the results of their last exam. Those over age 65 should have an exam with an eye care specialist every year. If you have a pre-existing condition or wear corrective lenses, your doctor will tell you how often to return for exams. Sometimes an eye exam can reveal damage caused by chronic conditions and disease in other parts of your body, before you even begin to notice symptoms. For many chronic conditions and diseases, early diagnosis and treatment are essential for a successful outcome, and these discoveries through an eye exam can often detect the early stages of disease. To schedule an exam, please call SKOWRON EYE CARE. At Skowron Eye Care, our mission is your vision. P.S. Eye health contributes to our overall health and safety as we age. Treating an eye condition can mean longer independence and better quality- of-life for seniors. SKOWRON EYE CARE 370 N.
