VIEWS FOR 20/20 by Dr. Mark Skowron and Dr. Michelle Skowron ADJUSTING ILL-FITTING GLASSES Eyeglass frames require adjustments from time to time. Wire frames with nose pads may not fit correctly on your nose, and these can often be adjusted by hand at home. If the glasses are slipping, push the pads inward. If they sit too high on your nose or are digging into your nose, push the pads outward. For plastic frames that are either slipping or too tight, bend the temple arms to adjust them. For slipping frames, bend the arms more. For tight frames, reduce the bend. If you purchased the glasses from your eye doctor, they may provide help with adjustments. Your eye doctor can heat the frames before bending them, making the adjustments much easier. If you are getting eyeglasses for the first time or changing your prescription, please allow 2 to 3 weeks for your eyes to adjust to the new lenses. In the beginning, you could experience mild dizziness, headaches, or even slight nausea. SKOWRON EYE CARE has been providing personal, cutting-edge eye care for patients in Elmhurst and surrounding areas since 1983. At Skowron Eye Care, our mission is your vision. P.S. Some frame materials are harder to adjust at home, such as titanium, memory plastic, and aluminum alloy frames, and should go to the eye professional for adjustments. SKOWRON EYE CARE 370 N.
