The City of Wood Dale serves the needs of its citizens by providing quality services, attractive amenities, sense of community and ethical representation. The City of Wood Dale is a northwest suburban community of approximately 14,000 residents. Incorporated in 1928, it became a city in 1970. History recognizes the Lester family as the most significant contributors to the City of Wood Dale’s founding. John Lester arrived from New York in 1834 and along with his father and five of his brothers made a claim on Irving Park Road at Salt Creek, an area then known as Dunklees Grove. Wood Dale is a community that offers a variety of new housing opportunities including affordable condominiums, luxury town homes and single family homes. Wood Dale is currently experiencing economic growth, both in its industrial district as well as its downtown area.
